Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 8, 2026
ArtShiMedia is a curated independent film streaming platform owned and operated by ShiStudios LLC ("ShiStudios," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you use ArtShiMedia, how we use it, how long we keep it, when it may be shared, and the rights you have over your information. By using ArtShiMedia, you agree to the practices described here.
You can browse our catalog and watch trailers without an account. A registered account is required to stream full films, keep a watch history, save favorites and watchlists, make donations, and use other personalized features.
1. Information you provide to us
Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, username, and a password (which is stored only in hashed form — never in plain text). You may also add a profile picture.
Sign-in through Google or Apple. If you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile information those services share with us, such as your name and email address, so we can create and secure your account. We don't receive your Google or Apple password.
Phone number. If you opt into WhatsApp-based verification or notifications, we store the phone number you provide for that purpose.
Donations. If you make a voluntary donation or supporter payment, it is processed by our payment provider (Stripe). We receive confirmation and limited billing details necessary to record the transaction, but we never receive or store your full card number.
Film submissions. If you submit a film as a filmmaker, we collect the content you upload along with the information you provide about it (title, synopsis, cast and crew, contact details, and similar metadata), plus a record of your submission and its status.
Communications. If you contact us through a contact form, customer support, or a review or rating you post, we collect the information contained in those communications.
2. Information collected automatically
When you use ArtShiMedia, some information is collected automatically:
- Viewing activity — what you watch, your playback progress (to power Continue Watching), your favorites, and your watchlists
- Technical and device information — IP address, approximate location (country and city level), browser type, device information, and session data
- Streaming analytics — information about how our adaptive (HLS) streaming performs during playback, used to keep video working smoothly
- Security logs and error reports — technical logs used to detect abuse, diagnose problems, and keep the platform secure
3. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember basic preferences (such as sidebar state), keep the platform secure, and understand how the service is used. We don't use third-party advertising trackers. You can control or clear cookies through your browser settings, though some essential cookies are necessary for the site to work — turning those off may prevent you from signing in or streaming. If we introduce advertising cookies in the future, we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
On certain forms (such as our contact and submission forms), we use Cloudflare Turnstile to tell real visitors apart from automated bots, so we can keep those forms free of spam and abuse. Turnstile checks a small set of technical signals about your browser and connection rather than asking you to solve a puzzle, and Cloudflare processes that information on our behalf to provide this service. Full details are available in Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Policy, which Cloudflare keeps up to date on its own site.
4. How we use your information
- To operate the core service — authenticating you, remembering your watch progress, and showing your favorites, watchlists, and recommendations
- To communicate with you — account verification, security alerts, and notifications you've opted into (by email and/or WhatsApp)
- To review and manage film submissions through our reviewer, moderator, and administrator tools
- To process voluntary donations and any supporter payments
- To detect, prevent, and respond to abuse, fraud, and security incidents
- To understand and improve the platform using internal analytics, generally in aggregate, non-identifying form
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these situations:
Service providers
We share data with the providers that help us run ArtShiMedia, each receiving only what they need for their specific function:
- Stripe — payment processing for donations and supporter payments
- Cloudflare — video and image storage and content delivery, and bot protection (Turnstile) on select forms
- Google and Apple — only if you choose to sign in through them, to authenticate you
- Our email delivery provider — to send account and notification emails
- A WhatsApp Business API provider — only for accounts that opt into WhatsApp verification or alerts
Legal reasons
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of ShiStudios, our users, or others.
Business transfers
If ShiStudios is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.
6. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we're required to retain certain records by law — for example, records related to a donation or other payment. Security and technical logs are kept only as long as needed for the purposes described above.
7. International data transfers
ShiStudios is based in the United States, and our service providers may process and store information in the United States and other countries. If you access ArtShiMedia from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights over your personal information. You can exercise any of these by contacting us using the details at the end of this policy.
Everyone
- Update your account information at any time from your Account page
- Turn off optional notifications (email or WhatsApp) from your notification preferences

If you are in a jurisdiction covered by the GDPR or comparable laws, you also have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We process your information to provide the service you've requested, to comply with legal obligations, and for our legitimate interests in operating and securing the platform.
California residents
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, the right to request access to or deletion of that information, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information.
9. Children's privacy
ArtShiMedia is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your jurisdiction). If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
10. How we protect your information
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including hashed password storage, restricted staff access based on role, secure payment handling through Stripe, and ongoing security monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
11. Future applications and features
As ArtShiMedia grows — including any future iOS or Android applications — this policy will continue to apply to the personal information we handle. If new features involve materially different data practices, we'll update this policy accordingly.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
